The Seven Great Princes Academy School at Dansoman went agog on Easter Monday when Fire Service’s Emmanuel Daitey and Cynthia Kwabi of Immigration Service emerged winners of the 3rd National Veterans Table Tennis Mixed Doubles after beating favourites Emmanuel Kofi Nti of Ghana Navy and Millicent Mettle of Ghana Police 3-0 in the final.

The tournament was organised by the Veterans Table Tennis Association, Ghana (VTTAG).

The two finalists had a daunting time dealing with the pair of Divine Nkrumah (Pipiro) and Eva Adom Amankwaa (Ghana Army) and Justice Ninson (AirtelTigo) and Cecilia Frema (Ghana Police Service), respectively, in the semi-finals.

The event, which required a male veteran table tennis player pairing with a female player, attracted many table tennis players and enthusiasts across the country.

Sponsor’s commitment
The action-packed tournament saw both youthful female players and national champions combining their skills with that of their veteran male partners to the pleasure of all patrons. The spectators, who were thrilled from the beginning to the end, later called on the VTTAG and the sponsors, Street Sense, to stage more of such events.

A representative of Street Sense, Mr Odoi, said he was impressed with the skills exhibited, especially by the female players, and affirmed his outfit’s preparedness to keep supporting the event.

The VTTAG thanked all players and stakeholders who made the tournament possible.
