Followers immediately noticed a change in the tennis superstar’s facial appearance and wondered whether her makeup was applied incorrectly or if she was bleaching her skin.
While some called out whichever makeup artist or photo editor who applied the look on Serena, many accused the winner of the most combined Grand Slam titles of gradually bleaching her skin.
After various social media users posted memes and side-by-side photos of the Instagram post and older photos of Serena, the photo was deleted from her page.
Serena is married to reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and they have a three-year-old dauther Olympia.
