KUMASI Asante Kotoko dropped their first points for the first time in season’s Ghana Premier League following after they were held to a pulsating goalless draw by Karela United in their match day five clash at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park yesterday.

Karela were the dominant side and had the best opportunities to inflict the first defeat on the Porcupine Warriors, but Kotoko defended gallantly.

In the 63rd minute, Kotoko were reduced to 10 men as midfielder Richard Boadu was sent off for a foul.

Karela could have snatched the match winner in the 85th minute but goalkeeper Razak Abalora pulled off a fantastic save to deny them the maximum points.

The result left Kotoko still on top of the table with three points ahead of second-placed King Faisal.

At Tamale, Real Tamale United (RTU) preserved their unbeaten home form with an emphatic 2-0 victory over visiting Ashantigold at the Aliu Mahama Stadium yesterday.

The homesters netted the opener in the 38th minute through Ishmael Nketia, before doubling the lead after 59 minutes through defender, Yussif Mohammed Nurudeen.

RTU have so far won twice and drawn once at home after their return to the top flight this season.
