Hasaacas Ladies clinch final spot

SEKONDI Hasaacas Ladies have reached the final of the inaugural CAF Women Champions League after defeating ASFA Rabat of Morocco 2-1 in their semi-finals clash in Cairo yesterday.

Goals from Doris Boaduwaa, who scored her first at the tournament, and Evelyn Badu, who netted her fifth, were enough to dispatch the Moroccans who stretched the Ghana and West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B champions to their limit.

Missed penalty

Minutes after Boaduwaa had put Hasaacas ahead, Najat Badri took advantage of a poor defending to equalise and give her side hope after surviving a penalty scare when Perpetual Agyekum missed a spot kick which was awarded after a VAR confirmation.

However, Hasaacas Ladies did not give up and completely took over the game until they scored the match winner with 13 minutes to go when Badu soared above her marker to nod home a great cross from Boaduwaa.

The final is scheduled for Friday and Hasaacas Ladies will play the winner of the Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea clash.

ASFA Rabat will also play the loser of that game in the third place play-off also on Friday.
