GCB Bank Ladies Association, a women’s wing of the bank, has organised a health walk as part of activities to commemorate Mother’s Day.

The 12-kilometre walk, which attracted hundreds of participants, both women and men, was under the theme: “Dominating the Digital Space in the Banking Industry: The Way Forward and the Role of GCB Ladies.”

A routine exercise for many, last Saturday’s fun-filled walk started from the Ayi Mensah toll booth through the Peduase Hills and ended at the Peduase Lodge Park. The participants were joined by groups such as the Lions Club, Allianz Insurance Company Ghana and Volta River Authority Ladies for aerobics and other fitness exercises, as well as a talk on healthy eating and the need for regular exercises to keep fit.

Donation

At the end of the walk, GCB Ladies donated detergents, tissue paper and a cheque for GH¢10,000 to the Princess Marie Louis Hospital in Accra.

According to the president of GBC Ladies, Gertrude Sangber-Dery, the donation was the group’s support for the hospital.

A nursing officer, Samuel Nkrumah Asamoah, received the items on behalf of the hospital and expressed his gratitude to the association for the gesture.

He said the items and money would go a long way to help mothers who find it difficult to settle their bills after delivery.
