UP-and-coming artiste, Bra Purple and London-based-Ghanaian act, Gabrielle Sey had just one assignment at the start of 2023. The mission was to let the world know that distance is never a barrier to true love.
And to demonstrate their belief, the two who live in different countries have joined forces on a new song, Drawn To You, which drops tomorrow, Friday, April 28.
Produced by Swit, the lyrics of the Afrobeats tune hope to establish that nothing builds a special connection among people than love and the duo take turns to sing about their perception of love.
Bra Purple is a determined young musician aspiring to set himself apart with his style. Gabrielle Sey, on the other hand, has made some significant gains with her young career in London.
In the last few months, she has featured on BBC Radio 6 Music, Fresh on the Net and AFROPUNK, with the aim of promoting and enforcing what she says is “music of my heritage”.
As such, collaborating with Bra Purple on Drawn To You falls in line with her larger goals and that was suitably evident with her delivery on the tune.
In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz, Bra Purple mentioned his confidence in the performance of Drawn To You is high with positive reviews from industry persons who have listened and professionally assessed it.
“This song has Afrobeats and Soul influences, rich lyrics driven by our unique perspectives on love and connection. Perhaps, people have the chance to assess our music skills and lend us the needed support to succeed,” he said.
Both artistes agreed the collaboration marks a new chapter in their respective careers and they intend to make the best out of the present situation by intensely promoting the song on various radio stations in and outside Ghana along with live radio interviews.
