Berekum Chelsea and Accra Hearts of Oak played an uncompromising game in a scoreless game at the Golden City Park, Berekum, last Saturday as the two sides split the points at stake.

However, it took good reflexes by Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Gregory Obeng Sekyere, to deny the visitors the winning goal deep into added-on time when he quickly grabbed the ball on the second attempt after he had pushed a shot back into play much to the relief of the teeming home supporters.

The home side, languishing at the lower half of the league log needed victory badly and piled early pressure on the Phobians, but the defence of Hearts were not overawed as their captain, Fatawu Mohammed and teammates Raddy Ovouka and Mohammed Alhassan foiled all the early incursions by Chelsea forwards Emmanuel Clottey and Stephen Amankona who took turns in missing chances upon chances to the displeasure of their supporters in the first half.

The pattern of the game did not change much after recess as the two coaches made a number of substitutions to influence, change and swing the game in their favour.

However, it was the Hearts attack led by Benjamin Afutu and substitute Patrick Razak which piled on pressure at the dying embers of the game. And in one of such forays, the visitors nearly scored four minutes into added-on time (94th minute) as goalkeeper Sekyere pushed a shot back into play and made sure that the ball was firmly in his grip before a Hearts attacker could make contact with the rebound.
