Asante Kotoko have elevated assistant coach Abdul Gazale to the position of the team’s head trainer, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced.

The Porcupine Warriors last December announced the sacking of Coach Konadu on the back of unimpressive results.

Subsequently, assistant coach Johnson Smith took over in an interim capacity and has since been in the dugout.

However, Kotoko have written to the GFA to notify them of the club’s decision to make Gazale their substantive coach for the rest of the season.

“Asante Kotoko have today, February 8, 2021, notified the Ghana Football Association of the confirmation of the appointment of  Coach Abdul Gazale, a CAF License “A” holder as the substantive head coach of the club,” a statement on the GFA’s website reads.

Coach Abdul Gazale joined the technical bench of Asante Kotoko shortly after coach Maxwell Konadu was given the job.

The gaffer is expected to continue working with Coach Johnson Smith in both the Ghana Premier League (GPL) and the CAF Confederation Cup.
